3 Delicious out-of-the-box croissant stuffings!
A croissant is a buttery, flaky French pastry that can be molded for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert. Just bake the dough, stuff it with yummy combination of ingredients and pop it into the oven.
The crescent shaped bread is made using a technique called ‘laminating’ where the dough is layered with butter and then rolled and folded several times in succession. That’s how a croissant gets its flaky texture. If you are up for prepping the dough from scratch, BBC’s recipe is a good tested and tried one. But if you don’t have the time to bake your dough or are just feeling lazy, hitting the supermarket and purchasing a ‘puff pastry dough sheet’ is just fine. Just ensure that it is a high quality one like Pepperidge Farm or Dufour.

Chicken Marsala Croissant
Cut 1-pound chicken into small, bite sized pieces. Season them with salt and pepper and shallow fry them in oil until brown. Keep the chicken pieces aside. Heat 1 tbsp. butter in the same pan and add 1 cup of mushrooms. Sauté’ mushrooms for 8-10 mins until brown and slightly crispy. Then add in minced garlic and about a 1 cup of Marsala wine. Cook until the wine reduces to half. Add the chicken and let it cook for 2 more mins. Now add 1 tbsp. cornstarch paste(mixed with water), 2 tsp. cream and a little salt. Cook for 3 mins and add halved cherry tomatoes and some chopped parsley.
Your Chicken Marsala is now ready! Cut your pastry puff dough into triangles and fill in the chicken stuffing. Roll over the dough to make the crescent shape. Remember to brush a tad bit of egg wash on your rolled croissant and pop it into the oven for 15-20 mins or until slightly brown.

Orange Shrimp Croissant
Blend together egg white of an egg, ¼ cup cornstarch, ¼ cup sesame seeds and a little salt and pepper. Coat your shrimp in the mixture and shallow fry it until browned. In a separate pan, add 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice, 2 tbsp. soya sauce and 1 tsp. sugar. Cook for 5 mins and then add the chicken. Top with chopped green part of green onion.
Voila, your orange shrimp is ready! Prepare your croissant with the shrimp stuffing just like the previous recipe.
Mix together 8 ounces of Mascarpone cheese, 1 tsp. sugar, 1 tsp. lemon juice, 1 tsp. lemon zest and 1/3 cup blueberries.
Take 1 tbsp. of blueberry mixture in the pastry puff dough and bake yourself a yummy dessert croissant.
