3 Quick and Tasty Meatball Recipes

Updated on September 27, 2008

Want to make sure you always have the ingredients for a fast meal on hand? If you keep a bag of frozen meatballs (from your grocer's freezer) on hand at all times, you can whip up a quick dinner in no time at all.

Whether you mix up your favorite sauce and leave a meal's worth of meatballs simmering while you're at work or you pop your favorite meatball concoction into the oven after a busy day, you can pull together a delicious no-fuss meal in no time at all.

Of course, for those days you have more time on your hands, you can use these recipes with your favorite homemade meatballs as well. Keep in mind that meatballs should be fully cooked before being used in any of these recipes.

Simple Barbecue Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of frozen meatballs
  • 2 cups of barbecue sauce (homemade or your favorite flavor)

Cooking Instructions:

(Crock Pot) Place sauce and meatballs in a crock pot. Simmer on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3 - 4 hours.

(Oven) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place meatballs in a 9 X 13 baking dish. Pour barbecue sauce over meatballs. Bake for 30 minutes.

Spicy Italian Meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of frozen meatballs
  • 2 cups of tomato sauce
  • 1 can of Rotel
  • 1 clove of garlic, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning

Cooking Instructions:

(Crock Pot) Place meatballs and all remaining ingredients in your crock pot. Simmer on low temperature for 6-8 hours or on high for approximately 4 hours.

(Oven) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place meatballs in a 9 X 13 baking dish. In a separate dish, mix together all other ingredients, stirring well to combine. Pour sauce over meatballs. Bake for 30 minutes. If desired, top with mozzarella or parmesan cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking.

Meatballs in Sour Cream Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of frozen meatballs
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 small can of mushroom slices, drained
  • 1 cup of sour cream (regular; do not use fat free or reduced fat)
  • ½ cup dry white wine

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place meatballs in a 9 X 13 baking dish. In a separate bowl, whisk cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and white wine until smooth. Stir in mushroom slices. Pour over meatballs. Bake for 30 minutes.

(Don't try this recipe in the crock pot; it is much better prepared in the oven.)

Love it! I often buy frozen meatballs. This is a great way to dress them up. I really want to try the one with sour cream! Will bookmark this recipe.

A not bad idea is to combine hamburger with ground turkey and/or veal, then move into additions. I will try the sour cream sauce balls above, they sound great.
