4th of July Cookout Recipes

Updated on July 2, 2013

Easy to Make 4th of July Cookout Recipes and Meals

There are thousands of 4th of July cookout recipes out there on the web, but sometimes you wonder if they've actually been tested. Has the writer even attempted to make this recipe before? All of the recipes on this page have been tested and made by the talented chefs that Squidoo has attracted, like the tasty grilled recipes or the easy to make potato salads. Each recipe also is illustrated and has easy to follow directions that will have you cooking like a pro in no time. Read on to see what 4th of July cookout recipes are included!

Beer Can BBQ Chicken Recipe and Instructions - Awesome beer flavored chicken for your cookout

Some chicken, beer, basting oil, and a good BBQ grill is all you need to make your own BBQ beer can chicken recipe. Add some optional stuff like onions, season the chicken, and stuff the bird cavity with the beer can and you're ready to go. Watch this video for specific directions.

The Bible of Grilling: A Guide to Grill Anything - An essential guide for serious grillers

Of all of the cooking books we have, this is one of my favorite. You never really truly know how to grill unless someone has taught you, and you could be missing out one some vital things like choosing the perfect grill, how to prepare your beef, what grade of beef to choose, and how to retain the juiciness of the meat you're cooking. You'll also find out how you can make those fancy lines in the steak that you see in the pictures (easier than it might sound, really).

How to Grill: The Complete Illustrated Book of Barbecue Techniques, A Barbecue Bible! Cookbook
How to Grill: The Complete Illustrated Book of Barbecue Techniques, A Barbecue Bible! Cookbook

Every conceivable thing that could be grilled is tackled in this grill bible, fish, fowl or meat. It also delves into the world of vegetables, which taste much better on the grill than steamed. Even desserts are possible on the grill, as well as grilled fruit like peach and pineapple, as well as the newly famous beer can chicken.

Save yourself the aggravation of heading out again and stock up ahead of time on soda, beer, and condiments. The grocery store is packed during the days leading up to the 4th, so head out as early as possible!

Reusable or Disposable Silverware? - Vote for the type you use...

Can't beat the convenience of disposable silverware and cups, or is it wasteful to use these items?

Which do you use -- disposable or reusable silverware, plates and cups for your cookouts?

Witness an incredible fireworks display in Washington DC on this vibrant YouTube video that captures first-hand what it's like to be at one of the cool events.

Don't forget to

fill your propane tank before the 4th! You'll have a tough time finding propane on this Federal holiday.

Enjoy the Taste of Charcoal this 4th of July - Brand new charcoal grills on Ebay at low prices

Charcoal gives everything a far different flavor for grilled foods. Some prefer it, some don't, but the charcoal actually does enhance the flavor of some beefs and chicken, giving it an unmistakably smoky summertime flavor.

New Gas Grills for your Cookouts - Convenient and easy cooking with gas grills

Gas grills are simply put an easy solution for your grilling needs. No lighter fluids or charcoal to add to the grill, just the occasional fill up of your propane tank. They're also incredibly easy to clean.

Delightful (and delicious-looking) group of recipes for a 4th of July Cookout! Our family favorite menu for the 4th has evolved into a standard over the years of grilled brats (in buns), macaroni/shrimp salad, and dessert. We've also made 'beer-can-chicken' on many other occasions, though ours is not BBQ'd :). Our family LOVES to Grill. Congrats on your Purple Star - it's 'well-deserved'. Excellent suggestions for a 4th of July Cookout.

Well, my favorite thing to eat on the 4th or any OTHER day is french fries (and a chocolate shake), but I'm not eating (or drinking) either these days. Tryin' to be good. Anyhow, just had to stop by and see what you created. I'm a big fan of your lenses. I love how you set this up and featured so many other lenses.

Wow - what a great idea. Was just thinking a few days ago that a person wouldn't have to go any further than Squidoo for really good tried and true recipes. Thanks for including one of mine. Two that I'd like to try are the Cola Barbecue Sauce and the Cold Brew Coffee.

I like both my spicy potato salad AND my special eight layer salad -- that one takes a bit longer to make, but it is such a hit with everyone. We've got ourselves going to two different 4th of July parties -- so it will be a busy day for us.

It all sounds good. I love barbeque but right now a hamburger, some of the Hawaiian Potato Salad and a slice of Rhubarb pie sounds the best.
