5 Fabulous Drinks for the Holidays
Traditional Eggnog
12 large egg whites
1 cup Granulated Sugar
12 large egg yolks
½ tsp. salt
3 cups Whipping cream
2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
1 Tbsp Vanilla
7 cups of Milk
2 cups of light Rum
1 cup of Whiskey (Rye or scotch)
Nutmeg, to sprinkles
Beat egg whites in large bowl until they start to thicken. Add first amount of sugar, beat until thick. In second large bowl beat egg yolks and salt until thick. Add egg whites, beat until mixed and thick. In a third large bowl beat cream until it starts to thicken. Add remaining sugar and vanilla, beat until thick. Add egg mixture slowly as you stir in. Add milk, rum and whiskey, beating continuously. Chill.
Serve in a punch bowl or a pitcher, garnish with sprinkles of nutmeg, top servings with cherries for added color.... Makes about 20 cups, or about 5 litres
Cranberry Rum drink
1 quart cranberry-raspberry drink
1/3 cup sugar
2 cups dark rum
Lemon slices
Cinnamon sticks
In large non-aluminium saucepan, bring cranberry-raspberry drink and sugar to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in rum. Ladle into heatproof mugs and serve immediately. Serve with lemon slice and a cinnamon stick. Serves 6-8

Holiday Champagne Punch
½ cup light rum
½ cup dark rum
½ cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
½ cup sugar
2 bottles (750ml each) champagne, chilled lemon and orange slices
In a 3 quart bowl mix rums and fruit juices, mix in sugar. Chill… When ready to serve slowly stir in champagne and garnish with fruit slices. Serves 12
Coffee Nog
2 Tbsp instant coffee granules
2 Tbsp Boiling Water
8 ¼ cups Eggnog
1/3 cup brown sugar
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup Kahlua
Topping
1 cup whipping cream
1 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
½ tsp Vanilla
Nutmeg to sprinkle
Stir coffee granules into boiling water in large bowl. Add eggnog, brown sugar and cinnamon. Beat to dissolve sugar, stir in Kahlua, pour into punch bowl.
Topping- Beat Cream, sugar and vanilla until thick, spoon over top. Sprinkle cream with nutmeg. Makes about 18 small servings
Mulled Wine or Cider
1 Quart cranberry juice
1 cup Sugar (packed brown sugar if using cider)
Peel from 1 orange and 1 lemon
1 cinnamon stick
6 whole cloves
6 whole all spice berries
1 bottle of burgundy or port or apple cider
Orange slices or lemon if using cider
In large Non- aluminium saucepan combine cranberry juice, sugar, peels and spices. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and return liquid to saucepan. Stir in wine, or cider reheat but don’t boil. Ladle into heatproof cups top with fruit slices. Serves 10
