Kitchen Gadgets, Are They Necessary?

Updated on October 28, 2010

Kitchen Gadgets

I was web surfing and came across an article declaring the items that all kitchens must have. Among them was a Panini Grill.

Think back, when did you first hear of an appliance called the "Panini Grill", and were you hungry before it hit the marketplace,  was it on Rachel Ray? This attractive lady was not even born when I started feeding people. Maybe it was not her......I am not here to do her harm,

She has a following, and I am not attempting to take that away from her, I just want to point out that you can get the same results with what you already have.

Panini is actually a type of bread.....Italian bread.........hum.......isn't Ms. Ray Italian? How convenient for the marketers.

Make your sandwich on Texas Toast, French Bread or Pita bread, it does not matter. Make what you like, and put in your George Foreman, or your Griddle plate or even your waffle iron..............

Don't have those? Toast it in your trusty old Lodge cast iron skillet.

All the panini press give it grill marks........that's it hard is it to flip a sandwich half over and cook the other side?

That's all, people..........make your sandwich the way you like it. Save your money, save your worry and have something good to eat.

Personally, I like grilled bread.........done on my trusty ole cast iron.......same skillet for over 20 years. It survived a house fire, three kids off to college, and countless moves.....and I married a traveling man, so I do mean countless. My granddaughter is none the wiser, she just eats the plain ole grilled cheese with a smile.

Eat well.......

      Dearest FloBe.........

So much time has passed since we last met..............I do hope that you are well.

This was one of my earliest, and least well received hubs.

To find you here, is a true Blessing.

I remember a Rachel Ray show where she used a heavy skillet to make her grilled sandwich just as you said. I use my George Foreman to make Panini sandwiches or quesadillas as well. So, whatever you have works.
