THE RECIPE

We moved to a new house in 1979. All day we carried boxes and small items from the old house to the new. We were so frazzled and tired that we didn't want to get dressed to eat out. My kids, 10 and 15 were starving. I went to the kitchen to see what I had left in the refrigerator and cabinets. All I had was cheese, potato flakes, and bologna. At this point they would eat anything, so I made this up as I went along.

They loved it! "Mom, you could sell these," I'm not kidding. Not long after that, my husband showed me an article in the paper where Hungry Jack was having a contest. $1,000 for an original recipe using their products. I entered the bologna bowls. It went to the semi-finals, but didn't win. Just a few weeks ago I was telling my neighbor about it, and she said they served that dish at her high school. Don't know how that happened, but the recipe was created in desperation in my kitchen.

HOW TO PREPARE

Fry slowly in small amount of oil on both sides until a cup starts to form. Turn a couple of times to see which way the saucer will form. and slightly brown. Remove from pan.
