Baked Steak and Gravy

Quick and Easy.

Hello y'all,

I've been away for awhile so I have a treat for everyone I'm going to add a few NEW recipes for my loyal readers, I hope you enjoy them? One of my favorite southern type dishes is "Baked Steak and Gravy" which my mom made for my dad; it was one of his favorites. It's pretty straight forward and very easy to make, so let's get busy :).

Baked Steak Ingredients:

4 Chopped Minute Steaks - you can buy 4 thin steaks and using a tenderizer mallet beat them flat and break the meat fibers yourself if you can't find the pre-tenderized chopped steaks.

Flour - Seasoned with Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder and seasoning salt ( this is to your preference, don't over do it with the salt or seasoning salt just a pinch goes along way).

Salt & Pepper - While cooking up the meal you may add more of either to taste.

Canola Oil - 5 tablespoons

Sliced Mushrooms for Gravy.

Milk - To consistency needed.

Potatoes - 1 small and 1 medium per person for mashed. (see my mashed potato recipe)

Glazed Carrots - Bag baby carrots (see my glazed carrots recipe)

Large Skillet

Oven proof Casserole dish

Add Five tablespoons Canola Oil to the skillet and begin heating it up. Dredge the minute steaks in the seasoned flour mix then place in the oil in the skillet and brown well on both sides. Add some salt and pepper to taste if you wish? Remember a pinch goes along way. When the steaks are nicely browned on both sides remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside.

Sprinkle seasoned flour in drippings from the steaks in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes. Cook the flour until it is lightly brown. Gradually stir in milk, until the mixture begins to thicken. Add a small splash of milk and constantly stir until you notice the sauce thickening. Taste for salt and pepper, add if necessary. NOTE: Make the gravy a bit on the runny side (not to thick) because it will thicken in the oven. Once the gravy is of a smooth slightly runny consistency add your sliced Mushrooms to the gravy.

Place steaks in the oven safe casserole dish, cover with mushroom gravy, put lid on the casserole dish and place in the oven. Bake at 350' F for 35 minutes.

Serve with my creamy mashed potato's and glazed carrots. Or substitute your own favorite vegetable.

Well there you have it folks my family baked steak and gravy recipe hope y'all enjoy it?

Note: I have uploaded my mashed potato and glazed carrot recipe for you as well just check out my other Hubs :) Thank You everyone!
