Benner Green Tea from Aldi - A Review

Updated on January 21, 2012

This is a review for Benner brand Green Tea from Aldi.

This particular flavor of green tea also has orange, passion fruit, and jasmine flavors, which in my opinion make up the vast majority of the flavor of the tea. If you're not a big green tea flavor fan, this may be the tea for you.

Overall this is a very mild flavored tea, with the jasmine flavor being the dominant one and the orange flavor being secondary to that.

The tea bags are pretty much what you'd expect, with the box of 24 bags costing around two dollars.

The directions state to put one bag in a cup of boiling water for 2 to 5 minutes depending on how strong you like your tea to be, but I found that just a minute and a half produced a pretty good cup of tea for me.

I also tried using the bag more than once, but it didn't really stand up for a second cup at all. I recommend using a new bag each time.

Overall this tea is a good bargain for the money. It is a fairly mild tea, mostly made of the orange and jasmine flavors, and not much of the actual tea at all. I found that the orange in it makes sugar or other sweeteners pretty much unnecessary.

In fact, I made this with honey for a family member by request and she said it was too sweet and refused to drink it!

It is not a bitter tea either, which has always been a drawback to tea for me (I hate bitter tasting teas). But if you like a good strong tea, you may want to look elsewhere as I found this brand to be very light even after leaving the bag in the cup for the full 5 minutes.

What sort of tea do you drink?

I was drinking a benner diet green tea and found some sort of capsule in it. Poured it out and it was like black mush inside. Capsule was 1/2 inch long. today's date is 9-21-14. Hope I don't get sick

Im sorry but whatever you guys have done to your diet green iced tea is awful. I used to love it. Now its very watered down and doesn't taste as good. Please return to old formula.

Why did they change the Benner bottled Green Tea. The New and Improved version is weak and awful. You can even see the change in the color of the tea. No point in me going to Aldi's anymore as that was the number one item I purchased there.

The "New and Improved" Diet Green Tea is not fit to drink.

I loved the old tea. Please bring it back.

Are you expressing disappointment in the Lipton or the Benner, Pamela?

I just bought the Benner Lemon and Ginseng flavor of green tea and I can't wait to try it out.

Having waited-and tried Lipton in the 2-3 week interval-for a new shipment of Benner diet green tea, I am incredibly dissappointed by the current product. Previously, there has been sediment on the bottom, and I suspect that it has greatly added to the flavor as well as the authenticity. No longer! It is a pitifully weak and lighter colored imitation of its original self. Why buy it any longer? Although the ingredients remain identical, the flavor is gone. And so am I!!!
