Cabbage and Beef Bake

This recipe is very similiar to cabbage rolls, only less work. They have the same key ingredients and taste awesome. This is easy to prepare and tastes delicious. This is a new take on an old fashioned recipe.

Yields: Several Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 small cabbage, chopped in large pieces
  • 1/2 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 10 oz can tomato soup
  • 1 10 oz can water
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1/2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

Directions

  1. Bring large pot 3/4 full of water to a boil. Remove from heat. Add chopped cabbage to the boiling water and and let stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Drain cabbage and place it in the bottom of a greased casserole dish.
  3. Brown ground beef and onion. Then stir in the rice.
  4. Pour the meat mixture over the cabbage.
  5. Mix soup with salt and pepper, vinegar, and sugar. Stir in the water. Pour over the meat mixture.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake for about an hour at 350 degrees.
