Cherry Coke Ribs
This recipe we tried a few summers ago and it was a big hit. My wife doesn't like cherries and she took to these pretty well. These go fast, so either make plenty for your diners or make sure to have plenty of side dishes to supplement the meat.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 to 5 pounds pork spare or country style ribs
1 (12-ounce) can Cherry Coke
1 (12-ounce) bottle Heinz chili sauce
2 tablespoons Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
(10-ounce) jar maraschino cherries
1. In a dutch oven or soup pot, heat oil over medium-high heat and cook ribs 8 to 10 minutes, until brown on all sides.
2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine remaining ingredients; mix well. 3. Reduce heat to medium and drain off excess liquid. Pour cola mixture over ribs and cook 1-1/2 hours, or until ribs are cooked through and tender, turning occasionally.Serve with your choice of sides. We usually have baked beans, potato salad, sweet corn and a tossed luttuce salad
