Chuu Chee Tilapia
Chuu Chee Tilapia Recipe
Chuu Chee Tilapia is a distinctly delicious Thai Fish dish that has been prepared for hundreds of years with other types of fish in Thailand. When Tilapia became available whole tilapias were used more and more often to prepare this delicious Thai dish. You will need to look in the Oriental or Asian section of your local supermarket for curry paste which you will need in this recipe.
You will want to start by dipping your cleaned whole tilapia in a large bowl of flour with salt and pepper added. You will then want to cook your whole tilapia in cooking oil in your wok until golden brown on one side and then flip your fish over and cook until golden brown on that side. Be sure to cook your fish on each side long enough so that when you finish your whole tilapia is done. Now empty your wok and add back a tablespoon of cooking oil.
You will now want to add 1 tablespoon of curry paste to the hot vegetable oil and cook it stirring often. Now you will want to add 1 tablespoon lime juice , 1 tablespoon Asian Fish Sauce , 1 Cup of Coconut Milk and 1 teaspoon Sugar and cook stirring until well blended and turn off.
Pour your sauce over the fried tilapia you just fried and garnish with cilantro , shredded carrots , and well drained roasted red bell peppers that you have cut into thin strips. You can also add thinly sliced lemon and lemon zest.
You will want to have one whole tilapia prepared this way to serve to each adult. You can serve your Chuu Chee Tilapia with bowls of hot buttered rice.
This dish is oh so tasty if you will follow the above simple directions. The flavors you end up with are so delicious. You can if you wish prepare this dish with tilapia fillets or even chicken breasts or chicken thighs cut into thin strips. You can of course use boned skinned chicken thighs in any recipe calling for chicken breast and the chicken thighs are one third the cost of chicken breasts.
