Coffee Beans And Coffee Shops
The History of Coffee
The first known coffee bean was discovered in c850. In actuality it was not called coffee beans, but coffee berries. Consumers on a daily basis drink coffee first thing in the morning as their wake up juice. I will admit I do. So I started to ponder what's the history behind coffee beans. I discovered the type of coffee plants and trees came along in 1100 right off the penisula of arabia.
Goats And Beans
The first coffee shop opened in Constantinople in 1475. It wasn't until the 1600 century that coffee found its why into Europe through Venice. In 1645 italy jumps aboard by opening the first coffee house in Italy.
Other stories claim coffee has it's roots in Ethiopia where a coffee tree was found in Kaffa. Coffee has an interesting and fascinating story behind it. There are historical accounts of coffee being cultivated in Yemen during the 15th century.
I read numerous articles on the background of coffee after researching the history of coffee i discovered there are variations to it's historical beginnings in one version coffee beans took its beginning in Ethiopia from goaterds noticing the increased energy of their goats after chewing coffee berries.
Ban The Beans
The most interesting points of coffee beans history is its being banned off the market in the 16th century. Could you imagine what the 21st century would be like if coffee and coffee houses were banned.
But back to the historical points the banning of coffee took place in Arabia. The ban was due to the policitcal interferrence which took place over a few decades. But guess how the problem was eventual solved? By taxing coffee.
