Cookie Poem
Cookies!
Your dinner is done, but you need more to eat,
So you look ‘round the kitchen in search of a treat
You have had a tough day, and you’re in a bad mood
So you need a big hug in the form of a food
You don’t want to wash dishes, or get out a plate
And yeah, you could drink coffee, but it’s a bit late
Yes, you need a dessert that surpasses the rest
A delightful confection; yes you want the best!
So you open the cupboard, and move things around
There it is! This is perfect! A cookie, you’ve found!
Yes, this is just the thing that will make you feel great
While you’re eating a cookie, your problems can wait
If you go to a wedding, you have to eat cake
At a pot-luck, you’re stuck with whatever folks take
And when it’s Halloween time, you have to eat candy
And who cares at a bonfire? Everything’s sandy!
But if you need a snack any day of the year
Dependable cookies will always be near
Just some sugar and flour, then bake at three-fifty
Though it’s not much work, the results are quite nifty
People break them in half so they will not get fat
But one cookie won’t hurt you, so please don’t do that!
Whether chocolate or oatmeal, they won’t go to waste
Because there is a cookie for everyone’s taste!
So the next time you’re raiding the kitchen at night
(Oh no, don’t even bother to turn on the light)
Just reach for the cookies, and you’ll be ok
Well, as long as you went to the gym yesterday…
