GOOD, Spicy Cabbage!
Cabbage With Attitude!!
That's a some spicy cabbage! Okay-okay, so you get the idea, I play with my food and I like it spicy! I like this cabbage with corny cornbread, you may be able to find, a recipe here.
If you eat meat, steaks are good with this dish. And a little wine of your choice will compliment the hot spicy flavor, chilled of course.
I was trying to figure out a way I could tolerate cauliflower, carrots and cabbage all in the same pot, this is it! You know I had to throw a pepper pod in. It ain't got that zing if it don't make your tongue sting. And here it is Mr. Cabbage Heads', Spicy Good Cabbage.
I searched for a video, that would give the basics on preparing cabbage for cooking. I think this one below is, excellent by, ALLRECIPES, on how to cut cabbage.
Recipe for Crazy Good Cabbage
One large head of cabbage
10 baby carrots
one half red dried pepper pod
3 small florets of cauliflower
2 tbs. of imitation bacon bits
3 pieces of turkey or beef bacon ( you can use pork if you like.)
1 tbs.. Cajun seasoning
1 ts. chili powder
pinch of salt and pepper to taste
tsp. chopped green bell pepper
Wash cabbage and veggies, and dry. Cut cabbage in small pieces, add all other vegetable to a pot of water, about a pint and a half. Add seasoning bring to a boil, lower to simmer, stir as needed, add a lid. Chop bacon slices into three pieces.,and fry on both sides, until lightly brown. Drain bacon on a paper towel, to remove grease. Add it to the simmering cabbage, break half pepper pod and throw it in pot also. Cook cabbage for about a half an hour, or when it is soft, but not mushy or yellow. Turn the burner off while cabbage is still green. Let it sit for about ten minutes. Drain excess liquid, if you'd like.Serve with mash potatoes, or rice, compliments baked chicken or fried steak. Serves about four.
