Creative Cupcakes For Any Occasion
Have Fun and Create
This past weekend was Mother's Day! Cupcakes are popular in our family. A fancy decorated cupcake is the ideal dessert. It is appealing, fun to eat and just the right size.
The evening before the big day, I had a creative moment. With two Moms to celebrate on Mother's Day, I was looking for an idea that would be special for them. With cupcake ingredients in the pantry, I made a trip to the local Dollar store for fun items to decorate my dessert with. Before shopping, I had some ideas in mind and quickly spotted my cupcake decorations.

I made cupcakes, nothing special. This dessert was all about the decorations. Freshly made cupcakes are always tasty!
My first step was to take the newly purchased flowers apart, separating the flowers from the stems. After removing the leaves from the stems, I placed the flower stalks into the leaf cluster. Voila, the stem was perfect to anchor my flower in the cupcake. The stem was narrow, yet long enough to secure the decoration.
As the icing hardened, I carefully placed the flower clusters onto the cupcake and let the icing continue to harden. I covered carefully with saran wrap to keep them fresh overnight.

The Presentation
The dessert plate looked like a flower garden with chocolate frosting and pretty pink silk flowers. When the flower and leaves were removed to eat the cupcake, they colorfully decorated the dessert plate.
Try using silk flowers on cakes and cupcakes for a birthday or shower event. Choose your flower and colors to match your decor or theme. For patriotic events, use red, white and blue flowers. For Autumn events, use Fall colors and so on. Be creative! Decorate those cupcakes and be on the alert for smiles!
