Dahlia Cafe in Liberty Hill, Texas

In the heart of Liberty Hill, just off Highway 29, sits a quaint Cafe with home cooking, real comfort food. Residing in an old ranch house, it sprawl over several acres. The large back porch provides entry to the dining area where you will find Southern hospitality and great meals. The simple dining area is spacious in addition to the many tables located outdoors.

We heard that the Outhouse is the newest addition, a provision for those dining under the large oak trees. An area is set aside for the visiting bands and a large playground at the back of the property provides plenty of room for children to run and play while the adults relax and listen to music.

You will find a small front parking lot and additional parking at the rear of the property. Those parking in back will walk through the property on a gravel path. Bring your umbrella if it's raining.

The menu at Dahlias is varied with appetizers, salads and soups, sandwiches, and several entrees. The food is fresh and the service excellent. We ordered meatloaf and chopped steak for lunch. The cinnamon apples were superb. My chopped steak had a wonderful flavor. My better half love his meatloaf.

This restaurant is noted for its pies. The main wall proudly displays the pies of the day. We found it hard to make a decision and settled on a caramel blond brownie with ice cream and topped with caramel and a touch of chocolate. Yum!

Our first experience at Dahlias was memorable. We were back at the end of the week with family members. They enjoyed it as much as we did.

Next time that you head North on 183, go North on Highway 29 and head to Dahlias for a great meal. It is a nice drive and the food will be worth it all. Try a slice of buttermilk pie, the most popular pie on the menu. Have fun!
