Delicious Fish And Chips Recipe

There is nothing as delicious as homemade fish and chips.
There is nothing as delicious as homemade fish and chips.

Beer Battered Fish And Chips

Homemade fish and chips can be oh so delicious especially if you make them with a light fish like tilapia or catfish fillets. You can usually purchase either tilapia or catfish fillets in your supermarkets seafood section. You want raw not breaded fillets as we are going to bread them.

What you will want to do is make the below breading and in case you're wondering the alcohol cooks away during the cooking process and all you're left with is the delicious flavor. I strongly suggest you make up your beer batter and mix it in your blender so some air gets whipped up in it for added taste and crunchiness.

For Your Beer Batter You Will Need.

1. Two 12 Ounce Beers.

2. Three Cups Self Rising Flour.

3. One Teaspoon Salt. ( Use Sea Salt )

4. Two Teaspoons Paprika.

5. One Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper.

You want to add all your ingredients to your blender and blend for a couple of minutes until your batter is very smooth and very well blended together. Now you can pour the batter out into a bowl.

In another bowl place two cups of self rising flour , one teaspoon ground sea salt , and one teaspoon of black pepper and mix together well.

Now you will want to heat up your home deep fryer to 350 degrees and when its hot dip the fish fillets first into the dry flour mixture and then into the batter. Drop your battered fish fillets into the hot oil and fry until golden brown. Drain your fried fish portions on paper towels to drain away excess oil.

I like to cut up my own homemade french fries from baking size potatoes while the fish is frying and then I fry my french fries after I have fried all my fish. When I fry my home cut french fries I fry them until they are done and golden brown and then I drain them on paper towels and sprinkle them with ground sea salt while they are still hot.

I serve my fish and chips to each person with homemade cole slaw , lemon wedges , tartar sauce and malt vinegar both for the fish and the french fries. If you have never tried it you should try malt vinegar both on your french fries and fish. It is oh so delicious.

And I will tell you that you can cook shrimp , oysters , scallops and various vegetables like squash , broccoli , mushrooms , and onion rings by this same method and they will be oh so delicious.

I sometimes like to make up a complete seafood platter with beer battered seafood items and I fry a combination of vegetables to serve with the seafood platter. Mushrooms and onion rings made this way are the best in the world to me made by the beer battered method.

If you use the beer battered method to fry your fish or other seafood items please post a comment below. Also please post your comments and or questions below also. And thanks for reading my hub page about Fish and Chips.
