Updated on September 10, 2012

Gourmet food delivery

Gourmet cheese baskets make a great gift for any cheese lover. And who doesn’t love cheese? Whether you eat it on crackers, crumble it onto salads, include it in recipes, or eat it all by itself, cheese is rich and satisfying. It’s also high in protein and calcium. With gourmet food delivery, it can be delivered right to your door, too, so you won’t have to make a trip to the mall and stand in long lines. If you need birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, or Father’s Day gifts, consider gourmet cheese baskets.

What kinds of cheeses come in gourmet cheese baskets?

Of course, that depends on which gift basket or gift baskets you select. Some of the most popular cheeses in gift baskets include Havarti, Swiss, Gouda, cheddar, Camembert, brie, Monterey Jack, and feta. Specialty flavors of these cheeses are often included, too, like smoked gouda, baby Swiss, chardonnay Havarti, and cabernet cheddar.

In addition to bricks and round of cheese, many cheese gift baskets also include creamy cheese spreads that are perfect for spreading on crackers or crusty bread. Some of the flavors are garden vegetable, bacon, roasted garlic, onion, chive, spinach and artichoke, and black olive.

What else comes in gourmet cheese baskets?

With most of these gift baskets, you don’t just get cheeses and cheese spreads. You often get all kinds of other goodies, too! Since nuts go well with many cheeses, they’re a popular addition to the gift baskets. You might find roasted pistachios, honey cinnamon almonds, cinnamon roasted cashews, honey roasted peanuts, or other nut varieties.

Most of the gourmet food delivery gifts also contain savory snacks that go well with the cheeses you receive. These might be in the form of cheese straws, dipping pretzels, or an assortment of crackers. Some baskets also feature flavored dipping oils.

Meats often play a big part in such gift baskets, too. Summer sausage, garlic sausage, smoked beef sausage, salami, smoked salmon, pate, and caviar are the most popular representatives from the meat and fish categories. And you might be fortunate to get some wonderful stone-ground mustard, too.

Dessert hasn’t been left out, either. Enjoy biscotti, Belgian truffles, gourmet cookies, white chocolate cocoa mix, delicate chocolate wafers, and tiramisu-filled cookies. As you’ve probably already figured out, there’s enough in some of these gift baskets to create an entire meal! This would be a super idea for a picnic.

In some of the gift baskets, you’ll also get non-food items. You might receive a wooden cheese board, a cheese knife, and/or a cheese spreader.

Why are gourmet cheese baskets great gift ideas?

These make great gifts because almost everyone loves to eat! For those hard-to-buy-for folks on your list, gourmet food could be the answer. This isn’t something that’s going to get tossed or re-gifted. Most of the gift baskets below come in an attractive basket and are pleasingly arranged, with a gift card included. As already mentioned, this is a gourmet food delivery – you shop and buy online. This is definitely the easiest way to shop. You’ll also notice that several of the baskets below are actually discount gourmet cheese baskets, which is even better!

How much do gourmet cheese baskets cost?

Gourmet cheese baskets run the gamut from inexpensive to truly opulent, depending on exactly what’s included. Prices generally start at under $30 and go up to almost $200, but no matter which basket you choose, it’s sure to be a big hit with your recipient. Next time you’re trying to figure out the perfect birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day gifts, or Father’s Day gifts, think about gourmet cheese baskets.

This is the perfect thing right now I have a great use for gourment cheese baskets.

My brother just had a complete hip replacement surgery, he's had a bad motorcycle accident and had many broken and shattered bones, his hip just wouldn't heal so they had to do a complete replacement.

He also got a cadaver bone replacement in his arm, amazing what modern science can do.

I hope all is well with you and your not in to much pain. My most positive thoughts are with you and yours. :) Katie
