Baked Apples with Carrots

  • 1 can apple pie filling (15 ounces)
  • 1 can of sliced carrots (15 ounces)
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Drain carrots. Mix carrots and apple pie filling together in an 8 x 8 baking dish. Melt butter and stir in cinnamon and sugar. Pour mixture on top of carrots and apples. Bake for 45 minutes.

Serving Suggestion: This delicious recipe is terrific as is, but is also delicious topped with whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream. It tastes great warm or cold.

Note: This recipe can serve double duty as a side dish. It is delicious paired with a holiday ham.

Simple Apple Cobbler

  • 2 cans apple pie filling (15 ounces each)
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 3/4 of a cup of milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter and pour into an 8 X 8 baking dish. Place sugar, flour, and baking powder in a bowl and mix until well combined. Add milk, and mix until a smooth batter forms. Pour the batter over the melted butter. Spoon the apple pie filling over the batter as evenly as possible. Bake for one hour.

Serving Suggestion: Try topping warm apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream for a decadent and delicious old-fashioned holiday dessert. It also tastes great topped with whipped cream.

Note: You can create other versions of this simple cobbler recipe simply by substituting other types of canned pie filling. Cherry, peach, and blueberry are particularly tasty prepared in this manner.
