An Easy Way to Make a Tasty Chicken Favorite

Contrary to what I expected to find, Chicken Cordon Bleu is an American dish. It originated in the United States around the early 1960's. Although it does share some similarities with various European dishes, CCB, is strictly an American concoction. This tasty dish involves ham and cheese served inside chicken breasts which are then battered and fried. The recipe I am giving you for this delicious entree is much easier and makes a delicious "sauce" that can be served over rice. Serve this up with a side of broccoli and rice for a savory dinner that will be requested by your family over and over. Hope you enjoy!

Cook Time

Prep time: 30 min
Cook time: 1 hour
Ready in: 1 hour 30 min
Yields: Several Servings

  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 lb mozzerella cheese, grated
  • 1 can italian bread crumbs
  • 1cup flour
  • 1 16oz package lean deli ham, diced
  • 2 cans cream of chicken mushroom soup
  • varies (by pan size) oil, (enough to fill about 1 inch deep in your skillet)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  1. In a large frying pan or skillet, pour oil about 1 inch deep & heat until ready to fry. (Oil sizzles if you drop a drop of water into it.)
  2. Cover the chicken strips in flour. Then cover them with eggs. Finally cover them in the bread crumbs.
  3. Place them in the hot oil and cook until lightly brown.
  4. In a large bowl mix the chicken mushroom soup with the diced ham and cheese. Pour mixture into a 9x13 pan.
  5. Place fried chicken pieces on the top.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 - 45 minutes.
  7. Serve with rice and broccoli for a delicious meal. Enjoy!
