Maria Cecilia believes that writing is a pleasure and at the same time a challenge to her flexibility.

It looks elegant when placed on a table along with other desserts when having a party. It looks sophisticated and expensive when you see them in a restaurant. Preparing a chocolate fundue is indeed very easy. I mean even without the fundue set, melting a chocolate can be easier but for a more appetizing and decent presentation, it is still best to use a a fundue set.

The Fundue set that I used was a gift from my former boss. I knew it was not too expensive because I was with her when she bought it. The Price is only P250.00, convert that to dollars that will be about $6.10 only.

You can actually use all types of commercial chocolates that you know... Toblerone is one of the bests, but that will be too expensive for your choco fundue, especially if you are expecting a lot of guests, but for a small group, toblerone is ok.

In my case I buy my chocolate bar at Chocolate lover Incorporated. I used the dark sweet flavor because the bitter sweet taste is just right.

What we need to make a delicious Chocolate Fundue

The photos above are samples of chocolate bars from Chocolate Lover Incorporated, where I buy my chocolate for my choco fondue, the main branch, is located in Cubao,Quezon City. They also have a branch near Welcome Rotonda, Quezon City. I usually preferred the dark sweet flavor because it is not too sweet but if you want your chocolate to be sweeter, choose the milk chocolate flavor.

Instructions

  1. Slice enough chocolate into small pieces, just enough for the fondue set available.
  2. Use Liquid milk of your choice. I prefer those in tetra pack, either not fat or ordinary milk, but for richer taste use all purpose cream instead of milk. The milk or the cream is necessary in melting the chocolate.
  3. Just pour enough amount of milk or all purpose cream, use your judgement, making this chocolate fondue will mean add more chocolate, or add more milk until you reach the perfect consistency.

What I used to heat or melt the chocolate

My Fondue set only requires a tea light candle to melt the chocolate in milk or cream mixture. Friends who saw me melting the chocolate for the first time, refused to believe that a small tea light candle can actually melt the chocolate, some even insisted on using two candle tea lights at the same time. But I guess they are just too excited to see the finish product, so I showed them that melting a chocolate with the use of one tea light candle is possible. Patience is the key, with my kind of fondue set, the only required size of candle to be used is the tea light candle and it is strictly written on the packaging. But moving on... You need to continuously stir the mixture of chocolate and milk/cream until the chocolate dissolved completely. Add more chocolate or milk/cream as much as you want as long as it will not overflow from the fondue bowl. Add more cream if the chocolate is becoming too thick.

What to dip in the chocolates

You can try a lot in your chocolate fondue, but the most popular chocolate fondue partners are mallows in all sizes, the bigger the better, wafer cookies, plain biscuits, fruits like strawberry, mango, banana, apple, oranges or anything edible that you can think of..

Side Dishes

My Chocolate fondue has s companions that I also called as side dishes. These are the candy sprinkle in assorted colors, rice crispies, thinly sliced almonds, and walnut. What ever is it the you dipped in the chocolate, you can roll them over in either rice crispies or candy sprinkle.

In my case, Instead of dipping, I put my banana in a saucer, then I will spoon chocolate from the fondue set, add it on top of the banana, then I will add a teaspoon of candy sprinkle, a little of rice crispies, and overload it walnut and almonds.... The taste is divine....you won't forget it.

The Fun and Joy

True enough, chocolate fondue is easy to prepare, Slicing the chocolate and melting it is the only thing that requires a lot of effort, but you will find yourself enjoying it. Preparing foods or fruit to be dipped in the chocolate is a lot of fun too. But most of all I enjoy watching my nieces and nephew enjoying and feasting on the fondue. And I found myself melting another set of chocolate mixtures because the first one that I served was easily consumed by my chocolate lover guests.
