I love my non-stick pans. Using a non-stick pan will enable you to cut down on (or even eliminate) the amount of butter or oil you use in a recipe. And they're so easy to clean. Gotta love that!

Don't ruin your non-stick pan by using a metal spoon it. Use this nylon spoon for stirring and serving.

When you are cooking your ground beef, you may find a lot of liquid comes off. This will be a mixture of meat juices and fat. If you pour this liquid into this fat separator, you can easily add the tasty meat juices back into the pan while avoiding the fat. Much healthier.

Tamale Pie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey

2 tsp (10 ml) chili powder

1 can condensed tomato soup

1 cup (250 ml) chopped green pepper

1 cup (250 ml) whole kernel corn (sweet corn)

1 pkg (240-340 g / 8-12 oz) corn muffin mix

Method:

My Adaptations:

I replaced the green pepper with some chopped swiss chard and mustard leaves - because that is what I had growing in the garden. I also got a little adventurous here and replaced the corn muffin topping with potatoes mashed with butter, milk, salt and cheese. I topped this with grated cheese and placed under the griller / broiler. I guess then I couldn't really call my adaptation "Tamale Pie", but it did taste good!
