Breakfast Baked Casserole

Updated on May 20, 2015

Awesome Egg Casserole

One of my favorite meals of the day is breakfast. I love eggs, breakfast meats, pancakes, and almost every type of breakfast food that is made. One of my favorite breakfast meals that we love to have at the holidays is an egg and sausage baked casserole. When the holidays come along and the house is filled with family and friends I love to get up early in the morning and put this easy to make casserole in the oven, the aroma that spreads through the house of this casserole cooking is a heaven scent.

Who would not love this recipe, it is easy to make and you put all the ingredients together the night before and refrigerate till morning. This is why it is so good to have at the holidays. Before the kids and family get to town and pack the house I take about 30 minuets of quiet time to prepare and assemble the ingredients for this casserole and stick it in the refrigerator till morning. Then before everyone wakes up I pull out the casserole from the refrigerator and stick it in the oven.

This casserole is not only good at the holidays and for breakfast but I love to cook it for dinner or when we have friends over a dinner party.

Ingredients

One pound of pork breakfast sausage. If you are trying to watch your weight or cholesterol you may want to substitute turkey breakfast sausage in place of pork breakfast sausage.

two cups of shredded cheese. I prefer sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese, but you may not care for the sharp tangy taste of sharp cheddar cheese so you want to use plain cheddar cheese.

3/4 teaspoon of dry mustard

1/2 teaspoon of salt

six eggs, I prefer extra large eggs

six slices of bread cut into 1/2 inch cubes. I prefer to use wheat bread but you can use plain white bread if you wish.

two cups of milk

Lets get started
