Great food in Central New York!
Some of these will surprise you!
Here are some ideas for stops to get some awesome food while you travel this summmer.
Many people from all over the world come through Syracuse N.Y. (Onondaga County or CNY) every summer. I saw that several years ago when I managed a a museum in this area.
I have wanted to, for some time, compile a list of must visits in this area. Some of these I live near, and others I have learned about through friends, or by riding my bike from one end of the county to the other. First, lets start with breakfast, the best meal of the day!
Then, of coarse, the best garbage plate and fritatas are to be found on the border of Syracuse and Dewitt at Mother's Cupboard, on James St. Now its famous for it's visit from T.V.'s Man vs. Food, Adam Richman. However, I have always loved this little diner! It is owned by a fellow Jamesville-Dewitt Red Ram,
Also, on The Food network's Adam Richman's stop list, was the ever popular and historic Hied's. Long before Adam's appearance, the winner ofThe Great Race stopped in at hied's for a coney during this unforgettable sports event. If you are in the Liverpool area, be sure to stop in and grab a hot dog, coney, or some home made ice cream!
Then, for a great hamburger, stop into Murray's Pub on Burnett Ave. This little neighborhood bar, has the best burgers in town, and there are very reasonably priced!
Right down the street from Murray's in Eastwood, you will find the best Utica Greens in town. Where? Tony's Family Restaurant. I also recommend the stuffed peppers, and goulash.
What should you bring home with you from Syracuse?
Definitely, pick up someTerrell's Chips, Dinosaur BBQ Sauce, some salt potatoes, and of course, some Hoffman Hot Dogs. Don't leave town with out them!
