Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger Recipe
Why I Made This Recipe
For a long time I enjoyed Hardee's Grilled Cheese Bacon Thick Burgers more than any other fast food burger on the market. I got it every single time I went to Hardee's and when I pulled in the drive-thru I knew that was exactly what I was going to get. But a few weeks ago it I pulled in and they said they were no longer making the Grilled Cheese Bacon Thick Burger! That was no good, So I set out to make my own because I just couldn't bear to go on without this spectacular burger. After some trial and error, I've gotten as close as I possibly can! And I want to share this recipe with everyone!
What You Need
- 1 loaf Texas toast (plain) - found in the bread isle
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 package orange American cheese
- 1 package white American cheese
- 1 lb bacon
- Mayo
- Butter
Servings
Serves 4 to 6 people
Step 1: The Burgers
Take your 1 pound of ground beef and make it into 4 to 6 patties (depending on how many people you're feeding or how thick you want your burgers). Season them however you like, I prefer to simply add some salt and pepper, and start frying them until they are cooked to your liking.
I recommend setting the burgers on a paper towel to absorb some grease. The mayo, butter, and cheese provide plenty of moisture for the sandwich in the end.
Step 2: The Bacon
Take your 1 pound of bacon and cut all the strips in half (to fit nicely on the Texas toast). Begin frying them to your liking while the burgers are cooking. As strips finish, place them on some paper towels to absorb some of the grease.
Step 3: Prepare Your Texas Toast
Each burger requires 2 slices of Texas toast.
Set out 8 to 12 slices of Texas toast and apply mayo to one side of each slice (to taste).
On half of the slices of Texas toast, put one slice of white American cheese.
On the remaining slices of Texas toast, put one slice of orange American cheese.
Step 4: Put Your Burger Together
When your burgers and bacon are finished, it's time to put everything together.
Put a burger on each slice of Texas toast that has orange American cheese.
Top the burger with as much bacon as you like.
For each burger, put a slice of Texas toast with white American cheese on top.
Step 5: "Grill" Your Burger
Apply a light layer of butter to the top of each slice of Texas toast.
Put each burger on a frying pan on a medium heat and butter the opposite side.
Flip occasionally until each side is lightly toasted and the cheese is well melted.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
When all your Grilled Cheese Bacon Burgers are "grilled" to your liking, serve warm and enjoy!
Tips
- Add more cheese to give more of the "overwhelming cheese" effect that Hardee's Grilled Cheese Bacon Thick Burgers had
- Don't put the burgers or bacon on paper towels to keep more of their flavor
- Don't cook the bacon too crispy to keep a consistent texture
