Short Rib Recipe

Updated on October 22, 2013

What are short ribs ?

Grilling short ribs are one of the many dinner past times at my house. What exactly is a short rib ? You might be asking yourself. Well it is a very popular cut of beef. Short ribs are usually bigger and more tender than let's say pork spare ribs. This make beef short ribs a no brainer when it comes to cooking ribs. There is so much more meat on them and when you put all these factors together this makes beef short ribs the best choice for your dinner tonight.

How To Grill Short Ribs

  • Marinade
  • 1/2 cup medium-sweet sherry or pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Here is how you make the marinade. mix the sherry and soy sauce in a pan, and bring them to a boil. Stir in the brown sugar and lower the heat. Cook until the sugar is dissolved thoroughly. Remove from your stove and mix in the rest of your ingredients with a wire whisk. Combine the marinade and short ribs in a bowl. Toss so everything in coated, cover with plastic wrap and put in your fridge for six to ten hours. It is a good idea to toss the ribs occasionally to redistribute the marinade.

Heat your gas grill to medium, or get your charcoal grill going. When everything is preheated and ready to go, take the short ribs and drain any excess marinade off of them. Grill the short ribs about four to six inches from your heat source. Grill short ribs ten minutes for medium rare, twelve minutes for medium, and fourteen minute for well done. Be sure you turn and baste you short ribs with barbecue sauce at least twice during the grilling process. When your ribs are done put on a platter and eat them right away. Put barbecue sauce on the side for dipping. These are truly the best ribs by far !
