Harrisburg, PA Capitol Diner: Real People, Real Food, Real Good, Real Fun

Reviewing a restaurant is not a job for an experienced food critic. A proper review should be not based on the taste of one man; rather, it should be based on the taste of many. Capital Diner in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is an example of a restaurant in which there is no problem finding real people to comment and share their experience.

Even in the middle of the week, in the middle of the day, and even though Capital City Diner provides a large well planned parking lot, finding a place to park can be tricky. To me, that says a lot.

There’s a reason people return again and again, and there’s a reason people go out of their way to eat at Capital Dinner—Good food, good prices, good service. These people aren’t there because they are looking for a “night out” experience or because it’s the best in the world. These are everyday, real people who want hometown food made to order and served in a clean well lit comfortable environment. These are hardworking people from all income levels. Real food served on real plates with real dinnerware gives the home-style cooking a real good experience. Hot food, generous servings, and plenty of refills makes for a relaxing no rushed atmosphere. I always feel at home at Capitol Diner. The selection is huge and the daily specials allow you to always fill whatever craving you have any time of the day or night. Want breakfast for dinner…no problem!

The difference between a fast food restaurant and even many sit down chain restaurants is the freshness and quality of the ingredients used. If you want eggs, for example, you can rely on grade “A” large; a custom crafted burger? Only the best lean ground beef is used. You can trust that the great taste of the soup, salad, or meal that you devoured three weeks ago, will be just as good today as it was then.

It would be easy to eat at the Capitol Diner every day for a month and never eat the same thing twice. Here is a sampling of what can be found just for lunch!

Want to get breakfast before you go to work…not a problem. Want to get a meal after doing a night on the town…not a problem. Capital Diner is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are closed on Christmas Day.
