This sweet and scrumptious dessert is thought to be a classic southern dessert. It is actually considered a layered cookie and can have as many as seven different layers.The recipe I am providing has six layers with a seventh optional. I love these things. They are amazing.

Cook time: 25 min
Ready in: 45 min
Yields: Several servings


  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 6 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 6 oz butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup cherries, optional (I do not add to mine)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted margarine or butter. Press it into the bottom of an 8x8 pan.
  3. Next layer the following: chocolate chips, 1 cup coconut, butterscotch chips,cherries (if adding) , 1/2 cup coconut, chopped nuts, and finally the milk.
  4. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
