Summer is here and that means grilling-out with friends and family. Grilling recipes are designed to give the host more time with guests as this recipe lovingly-named, "Hobo Burgers."

Start your "Hobo "Burger" mix with

  1. 2 POUNDS OF GROUND CHUCK. 1 VIDALIA SWEET ONION. 2 BELL PEPPERS. 2 PODS-GREEN GARDEN PEPPER/MILDLY HOT. 1 CUP-HEINZ WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE. 1 1/2 CUPS-OLD FASHIONED QUAKER OATS.
  2. in a wooden bowl, miz the ground chuck and slowly add the diced sweet vidalia onion, bell and garden pepper, Quaker oats, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix 10 minutes
  3. place 'Hobo Hamburger' patties on the grill, with space between them to allow heat to get to them as you turn them gently every five minutes and DO NOT CHAR-BURN the patties.
  4. 5 minutes before you take the hamburger patties off of the grill, use single-sliced Kraft American cheese to place on patties.

      pstraubie48,

thank you kindly for your "tasty" comments. I too am an onion freak. White or purple. Even the shallots in early spring. I am there. Onions need to be designated the nation's No. 1 food! I will be glad to represent us onions lovers in a congressional hearing if you will pay for my airfare up there. And talk up our love for onions.

And mention HubPages on national TV!!!!

      Kenneth

      PS think about it.

Hi Kenneth You had me with vidalia onions. I have to admit..sometimes I would grill some thick bread and have a vidalia onion sandwich.

This hobo burger looks like it is fit for a king. My son in law and grandson will love these. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, unknown spy . . .thanks so much for your "tasty" comments. I admit it. These are to die for. The burgers. Not my amateur style of publishing a recipe. Use this the next time you get together with friends and see the smiles on the faces as they eat them. Let me know how it goes.

My Dear Friend, Connie . . .where in this hub did I say my burgers pack on the pounds? I will not be dishonest. They will. Some. If you eat like me, wild and unbridled . . .LOL, but you can eat them WITHOUT the bun and just eat the delicious patty with lettuce, cheese and fixings. I might design a diet version for you, which I DOUBT that you need. Thanks for being a Special Friend and Follower, Connie.

      Hi, Victoria, my dear friend!

Glad to hear from you again. Ive missed you so much. Thanks for the great comment on this dish that even I can make. And yes, the flavor is unique. I forgot. You can even add a teaspoon or two of ciann (???) forgot the spelling, the red, powedered pepper to this recipe for a mild "kick" when you bite into one. Let me know how your burgers turn out.
