My Homesteading
Howdy!
Hello everyone!
I am so excited to be here and sharing my experiences, trials, and joys of homesteading. I am a 7th generation farmer from Tennessee. I enjoy raising and showing livestock, growing gardens, and preserving my own food.
I live on a 34 acre farm where we produce almost everything we eat. We have found so much joy in this and knowing where our food comes from, not to mention how delicious a fresh from the garden vegetable taste. We try to only grow heirloom vegetables and herbs in hopes of trying to avoid any hybrid seed or Genetically modified seed.My families current goal is to work on becoming completely self sufficient and we feel that we are finally starting to make good progress toward our goal.
We currently raise pigs, goats, cattle, and many forms of poultry. We also grow a HUGE herb garden and vegetable garden each year. When it is time to can our food we average over 1600 jars a year.
My family uses a lot of the "old" traditions that we were taught by our ancestors. Some of these things make no sense when you see them but they have worked for us and I look forward to sharing these techniques with others as well as some of the modern techniques that we use here on our farm.
So hopefully in the near future I can share with you tips from growing gardens, showing livestock and much more!
I hope that you all can find some of this information helpful in your homesteading endeavors!
