How To Cook Beets? If you are thinking that it is difficult well its absolutely not and you have more than one option to cook beets.

Before cooking beets the first thing that you should get right is buying fresh beet. Beets must be very firm and smooth without blemishes or bruises . Prefer small and medium to large beets, which may be stringy. Choose the ones with the leaves, because they are delicious and are cooked like spinach with just a sweeter taste!

Preparing And Storing Beets

Cut the stems of the leaves to about 2 cm from the base of beet. The beet greens are cooked like spinach. However, it is that they taste less astringent and sweeter than spinach. Raw beets can be stored wrapped in a brown paper bag for several weeks the older they are the crisper they get and so the baking time will be longer. If you like the taste of raw beet, just peel and then grate or slice in a salad.

Steaming The Beets

Place the beets in steamer basket over 5 cm of water, bring to a boil and cook for 20 to 40 minutes depending on size. Remove the basket and let cool before peeling.

Baking the Beets

If you have access to an oven and you prefer drier beets or perhaps beets are damaged, prefer baking! Wrap beets individually in aluminum foil. Place the beets in the middle of the oven and move the oven temperature to 200-210 ° C. Cook for about 1 to 1 ½ hours.

Cooking Beets In Pressure Cooker
