Easy To Make Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake

This chocolate Texas Sheet Cake is SO easy to make. You just mix all the ingredients for the Cake in one saucepan, and turn it out into a baking pan.

After it has baked, the frosting is made in one saucepan and poured out onto the baked cake.

The pan I use has a nice fitting top so that I can take the cake to family gatherings, picnics, etc.

This cake is always a favorite, and everyone wants the recipe!

I don't know where this recipe orginated, Texas maybe????

Assemble All Of Your Ingredients

Whenever I am cooking anything, I like to get all my ingredients ready. I measure everything out, and as I use an item, I set it aside. That let's me know I have included that ingredient in my recipe.

As soon as the mixture has started to boil, remove from heat and add all at once:

2 Cups Granulated Sugar

2 Cups sifted Flour

1 teaspoon Baking Soda Yes, that is soda I keep in an empty Baking Power container. I find it more convenient than the soda box.

2 Eggs

1/2 Cup Sour Cream

1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Using Portable Mixer To Make The Batter Smooth

Mix All Ingredients Well

Using a small portable mixer, mix all of the ingredients very well. You don't want any lumps!

A Lasanga Pan is ideal for this Cake, too

After The Cake Is Frosted

You can leave the cake plain, with just the chocolate frosting, but I have found that some people like nuts. I put chopped pecans on half of the cake, and leave the other half plain.

Hi bearnmom! Good, now you have the recipe! One of my daughters has a Birthday today, and the only thing she wanted was a Texas Sheet Cake! So, yesterday I decided since I was going to make the cake anyway, I'd cook it and write a Hub about it, and so, I did. Good luck baking this cake! Regards, Mary

The title caught my eye because I wondered what "Texas" sheet cake was. From the recipe it sounds like it would be similar to a cake-like brownie. Correct? It does sound good. Thanks for the recipe.

Mary, I love your recipes because they are made from scratch. Many recipes I come across call for packet mixes of this and that. Being from the UK makes doing many recipes impossible as I have no idea what the mixes are.

      Another fantastic recipe shared x

Hi, sjwigglywoo, If you want a good easy cake to make, this is it! It's always a hit at our family dinners or if I take one to a friend's for dinner.

Just wondering if you've made another one of your "fish cakes" lately. That really was a work of art. If you can make that cake, you can make any cake.

      Thanks for the share! Mary
