How to Make Easy Home-Made Burritos
Are you looking for an easy, inexpensive dinner for your family tonight? Burritos are easy to make and very inexpensive. Actually, you can feed the family and probably have leftovers for about ten dollars. Home-made burritos as a family meal are a great way to mix-up dinner time and the kids love them because they can prepare their own burritos once the ingredients are prepared.
To start making your home-made burritos, you will need:
· 1 pack of 10 inch soft four tortillas
· 1 pound of ground beef
· 2 cans of refried beans
· 1 cup white rice
· 1 pack of taco seasoning mix
· Sour cream
· Taco sauce or hot sauce
· Shredded cheese
· Water
To start your home-made burritos, place the ground beef in a large skillet on medium heat. Then, in a separate pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. In a 3rd pot, heat the refried beans on medium low.
Once the water starts to boil, add 1 cup of white rice and 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir and let the mixture come back to a boil. As soon as it starts to boil, turn the heat down to medium low and place a lid on it. Let it cook for 20 minutes, only stirring once halfway through. Do not drain or rinse.
As you cook it the meat, break it up with a spatula. You will want your ground beef to be fine for your burritos and not in big chunks. Let the refried beans cook on medium-low heat while the meat cooks. Once the meat has browned, add a half a cup of water and the taco seasoning mix. Stir the mixture, cover and cook on medium-low for 5 minutes.
Now that your meat, beans, and rice are ready, heat your flour tortilla in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. A cold tortilla does not taste good and it also tends to crack easier than a warm tortilla. Place a pinch of shredded cheese on the tortilla. Then a couple of spoons of beef, beans, and rice. Add sour cream and hot sauce to taste and enjoy!
