Updated on October 21, 2016

What is Nutella

If you are unfortunate to not know what Nutella is, then let me fill you in !

Nutella is a wonderful hazelnut and cocoa spread.

It was founded in 1940 by Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry chef. At the time cocoa was hard to come by, and in very short demand because of the World War 2 rations.

Mr. Ferrero used hazelnuts because in the Northwest region of Italy the were abundant. He also did this to help stretch the chocolate supply.

In 1983, Nutella was imported to the United States for the first time. It grew in popularity, and is now sold all over the world.
