How to Make Homemade Nutella
What is Nutella
If you are unfortunate to not know what Nutella is, then let me fill you in !
Nutella is a wonderful hazelnut and cocoa spread.
It was founded in 1940 by Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry chef. At the time cocoa was hard to come by, and in very short demand because of the World War 2 rations.
Mr. Ferrero used hazelnuts because in the Northwest region of Italy the were abundant. He also did this to help stretch the chocolate supply.
In 1983, Nutella was imported to the United States for the first time. It grew in popularity, and is now sold all over the world.
Homemade Nutella Recipe
This is a must for those of us who love Nutella, this is an all natural Nutella recipe that tastes great and is full of nutrition.
Ingredients
hazelnuts 3/4 cup
1/2 cup of water (or vanilla almond milk)
18 dates
1/4 cup cocoa powder (add 1 extra tablespoon)
1/4 cup cocoa butter (melted)
2 teaspoons honey
Put hazelnuts in a food processor or blender until fine. add the cocoa and dates one at a time. Continue doing this until a paste consistency forms. Put in the remaining ingredients. If it is to thick, gradually add a little bit of water (or almond milk) until you get the consistency you are desiring.
Store in the fridge
