Seven Layer Choconaught Cookies

Updated on March 12, 2011

Seven layer Choconaughts

I call these Choconaughts because once you cut them into squares they look like space food that might have gone on the Gemini or Apollo Missions. This is a recipe from “The Cupboard Drawer”, given to my Mom, Dorothy, by her friend Lu Ann Varness. Heaps of these have been consumed by me, my siblings, and my children. They will soon be included for my Adopted Unit in Afghanistan as they “travel” well in plastic tubs and the weather is now transitioning to cool from hot. Hope you enjoy….

Choconaught Cookies

1 Stick of Butter

1 Cup Graham cracker crumbs

1 Cup Shredded Coconut

1 Small Pkg Chocolate Chips

1 Small Pkg Butterscotch Bits

1 14 oz Can Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 ½ Cup Chopped Walnuts or Pecans

Preheat Oven to 350 Deg

  1. In a small Saucepan melt the Butter.
  2. Evenly Layer the ingredients as listed in a 13 X 9 X 2 Cake Pan
  1. Melted Butter
  2. Graham Cracker Crumbs
  3. Shredded Coconut
  4. Chocolate Chips
  5. Butterscotch Chips
  6. Sweetened Condensed Milk
  7. Nuts

Leave in layers and bake for 30 mins Remove from oven and allow to cool Cut into 2 X 4 in bars

Yield 12 Bars ( I like them big as indicated) you can cut them smaller as they are a rich treat.

Trail Mix Alternative: You can substitute proportional amounts of Almonds with the nuts, and raisins for either of the Chips. They will be a bit crumbly though.

If it has nuts in it I will love them...

Every year I add a new recipe to my Christmas cookie platters. This is definitely what I'm looking for. Thanks for sharing.

      regards Zsuzsy
