Updated on July 31, 2018

The Best Candies of the 1990's

With no further wait, let's take a dive back into the 90's and talk about the best candies of that decade (especially for kids).

AirHeads

Source

It's been a long time since I've had an AirHead but I remember them being chewy like taffy. They were one of my favorite candies growing up. They come in 8 different flavors and those flavors are as follows

Flavors: Watermelon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Strawberry, Orange, Green Apple and White Mystery.

They still make AirHeads today.

Amazin' Fruit Gummy Bears

Source

This is the only gummy bear I ever ate as a kid and unfortunately they don't make them anymore. I love these gummy bears though and got them all the time. It's been so long since I've had one, so I don't remember what they tasted like but I do know they were my favorite.

They had six flavors and those flavors are as follows

Flavors: Orange, Grape, Pineapple, Strawberry, Green Apple and Cherry. They also made Tropical flavored ones, as well.

Bazooka

I know Bazooka is a gum that was introduced in the 50's but it was still around in the 90's. I remember this gum for two reasons 1) Whenever I'd go to the Barber shop with my dad I'd sit and wait for him to be done. Before I left, the Barber always give me a piece of Bazooka bubble gum. 2) I remember the comic strips it had on the inside of the wrapper and I always looked forward to reading them.

It's been along time since I've had this gum but I remember it being good bubble gum. I don't know if it's still around today or not.

Blow Pops

Source

I remember Blow Pops but it's been along time since I had one. They are a sucker with a hard candy outside and bubble gum in the center. I think that's the perfect candy for a kid, the best of both worlds. They come in many flavors and they are as follows

Flavors: Cherry, Strawberry, Grape, Watermelon, Sour Apple, Blue Razz Berry, Cherry Ice, Black Cherry, What A Melon, Kiwi Berry Blast, Black Ice, Blueberry, Crazzberry, Tropicalberry, Blackberry and Raspberry.

I believe a lot of those are flavors that they added on in later years, as they still make Blow Pops. I think they just had the traditional flavors in the 90's.

Bubblicious

This was a very popular gum in the 90's. I know of it but I don't know if I tried it or not. I don't believe they make this gum anymore.

Bubble Tape

Source

This was one of my favorite gums growing up and it was really cool. It came in a plastic case that looked like a tape measure and when you opened it up, you pulled the gum out like you would a tape measure. It was awesome!

Flavors: They didn't just have Bubble Gum flavor, they had Grape as well.

I don't know if they make Bubble Tape anymore. I know that Hubba Bubba, the company that made Bubble Tape is still around and has a gum out but I don't think Bubble Tape is one of them anymore.

Bubble Yum

Source

This was another popular gum in the 90's. I don't know if I tried this one or not but I do remember it quite well. They still make Bubble Yum, even now.

Dubble Bubble

Source

Yet another gum I remember well, this one I did try. I really liked Dubble Bubble and it's still around even today.

Dum Dum's

Source

I absolutely loved Dum's Dum's, they were the best! I know they still make them but I haven't had one in awhile. They are a tiny sucker, perfect for kids or anyone really. They started out with 7 flavors and are now up to 16. They are as follows.

Flavors: Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Root Beer, Cream Soda, Orange, Sour Apple, Pineapple, Bubble Gum, Grape, Peach-Mango, Strawberry, Butterscotch, Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Lemon Lime and Cotton Candy.

Everlasting Gobstopper

This was not a candy I ever ate but I remember it being quite popular back in the 90's. It's described as a candy that's similar to a jawbreaker but has layers which create the coloring and flavor changing effect. They had five flavors and they are as follows.

Flavors: Orange, Cherry, Lemon, Watermelon and Grape.

I think they might still be around today, but I'm not certain.

Flavored Tootsie Rolls

Source

I loved flavored Tootsie Rolls! I had never had them before, until I got some at a Parade my town had every year in the summer. The people in the Parade would throw candy for the kids and Flavored Tootsie Rolls were among that candy. So, I only got them once a year but they were worth the wait. The flavors are as follows.

Flavors: Lemon, Vanilla, Cherry, Orange and Lime.

I'm not certain if they still make them today or not.

Fruit Stripes

Fruit Stripes was one of my favorite gums, as a kid. I mean, what kid wouldn't like a gum with a zebra on the package? This gum was striped and tasted like fruit (hence the name). They have two five flavored packs and they are as follows.

Chewing Gum Flavors: Wet N'Wild Melon, Cherry, Lemon, Orange and Peach Smash

Bubble Gum Flavors: Cherry, Grape, Mixed Fruit, Lemon and Cotton Candy

This gum also had tattoos inside the package of gum, that was very cool! I think they still might make this gum but I'm not certain.

Jolly Ranchers

Source

I loved Jolly Ranchers as a kid and I still love them now! Obviously, many people do and that's why they still make them. Jolly Ranchers are a hard candy and they come in 5 flavors. Those flavors are as follows.

Flavors: Watermelon, Grape, Cherry, Green Apple and Blue Raspberry.

Flavors: Cherry, Banana, Strawberry, Sour Apple, Grape, Blue Raspberry and Fruit Punch.

I believe they still make Laffy Taffy

I was a 90's kid and that was some of the best times for me. There's lots to love about the 1990's but one of the best things as a kid, is the candy!

Nerds

I loved Nerds, they were one of my favorite candy's as a kid. They were cute and tiny. They came in a box and it was divided in half. There was a color and flavor on each side. The colors and flavors are as follows.

Flavors: Strawberry & Grape, Wild Cherry & Watermelon, Double Dipped Lemonade-Wild Cherry and Apple Watermelon, Sour-Lightening Lemon & Amped Apple, Surf n'Turf- Totally Topical Punch & Road Rash Raspberry, Wildberry & Peach, Watermelon & Punch & Wildberry.

I think Nerds might still be made today, but I'm not certain.

I remember Now & Later, very well but I don't know if I ever ate any. It's described as a square taffy like candy. Now & Later come in many variations such as Original, Wild Fruits, Chewy, Extreme Sour and Splits. The flavors are as follows.

Original: Apple, Banana, Grape, Watermelon and Pineapple

I believe Now & Later is still around today.

Flavors: Grape, Cherry, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry and Maui Punch

I believe Pixy Stix are still made today.

Flavors: Blue Raspberry, Strawberry, Berry Blast, Watermelon. They now have a new mystery flavor. I think there might be some flavors from the 90's that they don't have now but, these are the current ones.

They still make Push Pops today (from what I can tell).

Ring Pop

Source

This is another awesome 90's candy that I love. It's a hard candy shaped like a jewel on a wearable plastic ring, it's the coolest! The flavors are as follows.

Flavors: Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Strawberry, Watermelon, Twisted Berry Blast. They also have a summer flavor called Strawberry Lemonade. Much like the candy above, I feel like there might be more flavors that were around in the 90's but these are the current ones.

People everywhere are still "Tasting the Rainbow" because Skittles are still around and still quite popular. I loved Skittles, they're very good. Basically, Skittles are chewy fruit flavored candy. The flavors are as follows.

Flavors: Grape, Green Apple, Lemon, Strawberry and Orange. I feel like the green one was once Lime but I could be wrong. Anyway, those are the current flavors. Whether they have varied or not over the years, I'm not sure.

Skittles also come in Tropical and Wild Berry flavors.
