How to make Icecream

Updated on August 25, 2017

Where Icecream came from!

What is your favourite type and flavour of icecream ? Do you love New Zealand's Hokey Pokey consisting of plain vanilla ice cream with small, solid lumps of sponge toffee or are you a plain Vanilla type ?

How about the Magnum Icecream that is suposed to be like sliding between silk sheets ?!

Icecream has been around since the 1700's where it used to be served in glass dishes so the invention of the icecream cone was certainly a great idea for sanitation & ease of eating icecream

.Ice cream was introduced to the United States by Quaker colonists who brought their ice cream recipes with them

New Zealand where we used to have more icecream is world-famous for the quality of its dairy products, which are in turn the result of a clean environment, year-round grazing on outdoor pasture, a technologically advanced dairy industry, and strict quality and hygiene standards. New Zealand ice cream is made from the best and freshest dairy ingredients available anywhere.

Caramel & hokey pokey icecream !

Mr Whippy Icecream!

As children we used to love hearing the sound of Mr Whippy coming around the streets with the Soft serve Icecreams .

I know some parents told their children that the noise the van made he meant that he was sold out of icecream !

When we heard the Mr Whippy Icecream Tune coming closer as children we would grab our money & wait for him to arrive in our street so we could buy a choc covered creamy icecream.

Ok even as we got older we still enoyed the creamy Mr Whippy icecreams !

Basic Ice Cream Cake Recipe

3 Tb
2 quarts
12 oz
  Chocolate crème-filled sandwich cookies
Butter or margarine
Favorite candy bars
Flavored ice cream (your choice)
Frozen whipped topping, thawed

Multicolored sprinkles or small candy decorations

On a cutting board, finely chop cookies, 2-3 at a time. Place butter in small microwave-cooker. Microwave on HIGH 30 seconds or until melted. Mix in cookie crumbs. Press crumb mixture onto bottom of a springplatform pan. Freeze 15 minutes.

Cut candy bar into 4-5 pieces; wrap in plastic wrap and freeze 10 minutes. Chop into small pieces.

Cut ice cream container apart to expose block of ice cream. Cut half of ice cream into 1-inch-thick slices. Arrange ice cream slices over cookie crust, cutting pieces to fit. Spread into a smooth layer. Sprinkle with chopped candy bar. Top with remaining ice cream prepared the same way as first layer. Smooth top with spreader. Cover with aluminum foil. Freeze 3 hours or overnight.

Attach open star tip to a decorator. Fill tube with whipped topping and set aside. Run knife around edge of ice cream cake. Release collar from pan. Lightly frost top and side of ice cream cake with remaining whipped topping. Decorate with whipped topping using decorator. Top with sprinkles. Freeze 1 hour or overnight. Once whipped topping is frozen lightly cover cake with plastic wrap.

Interesting hub. They say music is the "universal language" but sometimes I think ice cream is too :).

It didn't occur to me that New Zealand might have fine ice cream despite knowing that NZ is known for its dairy and meat industries. Now I know which brands to look out for and try when I one day travel over.

I agree with everything that sharing the sky said. You should have had more questions in your ice cream survey, though. My favorite flavor is "chocolate chip". Stay cool, ECAL

I have come to the belief, late in life, that there is no greater flavor than pistachio almond. Oh my goodness... it's to die for. :)
