Tamil Ven Pongal Preparation
Ven Pongal or Kaara Pongal is a Tamilnadu speciality.This is a much liked item as lunch or during festivals. Given below are Ingredients and Method of Preparation of this Pongal Recipe.
Ingredients
- 250 gms Raw Rice
- 100 gms Moong Dal
- Cashew nuts
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Jeera
- 1/4 tsp Hing
- 1 green chilly finely cut
- 1/2 tsp Grated Ginger
- Ghee
- Curry Leaves
- Urad Dal
- Musturd seeds
- Salt
Method of Preparation of Ven Pongal
Wash the Rice and Moong Dal thoroughly and Add water and salt and Pressure Cook thoroughly. Once ready add 3 cups of water, mash the rice and keep aside. Now heat a Kadai and add Ghee and put the ural dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, pepper, cashew nuts, ginger, green chillies, hing powder and curry leaves and roast for 2 minutes Remove from heat and add all ingredients to the rice and mix thoroughly so that it is in a slight watery consistency. Keep on the stove for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and Serve hot with Papad and Pickle.
