Red and Kookaburra Licorice Candy

Growing up, I remember that licorice was one of the candies that my mother allowed us to eat quite frequently. It was and still is inexpensive. Of course they have found medicinal qualities to it.

Sort of only makes it sell more. I never cared if licorice candy had curative qualities, I pretty much figured that every plant in nature could have a beneficial element to it. But that still doesn't negate the fact that the stuff is good and pretty cheap. It keeps well also.

Dont laugh but I normally open the package of licorice and allow it to get harder. I like it more chewy. OK its stale but I still like it. These days you can have almost any type of licorice sent to you in the snail mail. I love it , you can order it from Amazon or even on Ebay. I figure that the kids wont see you buying it at the store so maybe you might be able to ration it to them

Thats what my mom had to do to us. Of course there was 5 of us and we could devour some serious licorice!
