How to Make Wine
I remember doing this a long time ago and with the economy the way it is I thought I would pass on this recipe to you to save some money.
Warning you should check state and local laws pertaining to making of alcohol, and be of legal drinking age to make and consume.
Ingredients.
3 cans of 100% frozen grape juice
(Welch's 100% grape juice concentrate works great)
1/2 cup of sugar
A one gallon container
(in the past I have used a plastic milk jug)
A large sized balloon
(get a bag of them in the event it breaks, or you make more)
Tap Water
One packet of Baker Yeast
(or for a better tasting wine use wine yeast -see adds)
Additional items:
A pin
Measuring cup
Rubber band
Siphoning hose (or tubing)
funnel
Take the frozen grape juice and mix 2 cans of tap water for each can (regardless of what the recommended mix is, just use 2 cans of water for each can)
Add the 1/2 cup of sugar
Once it is mixed up use the funnel to pour it into the gallon container, close the cap on the bottle and give the container a good shaking to make sure it is mixed and put some air into the juice.
in a measuring cup add about 1/2 cup of warm water. I follow the guideline my Uncle told me, "The water is the right temp when it feels like [warm] piss on your arm".
Let the yeast sit for a little then, then add a single teaspoon of sugar and stir it up.
let the yeast sit until the foam is up near an inch from the water line.
Pour the yeast mixture into the gallon jug and once again cap the bottle and give it a good shake.
**Warning do not leave the cap on the bottle for any length of time, just give it a good shake and uncap it.
Next take the rubber band and balloon, you will need to take the pin and poke 2 (or 3) small holes in the top of the balloon to allow some air to escape when it gets over inflated.
Now take that balloon and place it on the top of the uncapped jug, securing it with the rubber band. Save the cap of the jug for later on.
Place the jug in a warm place and leave it undisturbed
(you can check on it to make sure the balloon has not popped or fell off, just do not move it)
In less than a day you will start to see the balloon fill up and bubbles on the side of the jug.
In about two weeks the balloon will have filled up most of the way and then deflated back down. The bubbling should have stopped (you might see a few bubbles) If it is bubbling a lot let it sit some more. Once it is ready, remove the balloon and cap the jug up and place in a cool area, like a refrigerator.
You can drink it at this point, but it is better if you let it sit for a month in the jug, or better yet transfer it to another container. Make sure you pour slowly as to not get any of the sediment left at the very bottom of the jug.
Best done when using a Siphoning hose for this keeps the sediment from getting all stirred up. Just remember to make sure anything that comes in contact with your wine is very clean to prevent contamination.
Hope this is helpful!
