Momma's Breakfast Cakes
This is a very old PA Dutch breakfast cake recipe dating back to at least my great-great grandmother. It's amazing these ingredients produce such a delicious cake. My grandmother spread butter on each slice before eating, but I never thought it necessary.

Ingredients
- 3 cups Flour
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 Eggs
- 1 1/4 cup Milk
- Cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Hand mix flour, sugar, baking powder, crisco, and salt until crumbly. Set aside 3/4 cup of crumbs for topping.
- Add eggs and milk to remaining crumbs. Mix well.
- Divide batter between 2 8x8 greased (or sprayed with Pam) dishes. The batter rises so don't fill very high. Top with crumbs. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Bake 30-40 minutes.
