My Culinary Quest: De-Lish Cheesecake Bakery and Cafe in Florissant, MO
Great salads at DeLish
A quick lunch in the ultimate casual diner.
Bigger is not always better. De-lish Cheesecake Bakery and Cafe has proven that. About the size of a walk-in cooler in a hotel or casino, this little cafe displays it's size where it matters: flavor and a friendly atmosphere.
Jeff and Kristi Mullersman opened De-lish in an old train depot in September, 2011. They sell over forty rotating flavors of cheesecakes, highlighting three-to-five each day. Their cafe menu includes a variety of salads, sandwiches and soups. We have so far sampled something from every category and everything has been...well, De-lish!
On our first visit, I ordered and subsequently devoured the BLB...Bacon, Lettuce and Bacon! Lather on some chipotle mayo and...Wow! What a sandwich! I had planned on trying another sandwich on our second visit, but unfortunately we arrived in between lunch and dinner service. The full menu, including the sandwiches, was not available at that time.
We have now tasted a couple of the salads and soups, including the Caesar, the Harvest and the Lobster Bisque. All were also Delish. The ham & cheddar quiche was nothing spectacular, but still good. They serve locally produced Thomas coffee and 20 oz. bottles of Coke products.
And then there is the cheesecake. We have now sampled the banana split, the original, the german chocolate and the peanut butter and jelly. I do believe these are the best cheesecakes I have ever eaten, but my subconscious is telling me to try more, more, more! Oh, and the scones are pretty good too.
As far as service is concerned, the young man that has waited on us on both occasions was very knowledgeable about the menu and was also evidently enthusiastic about the product he was selling. The owners are present, friendly and everyone is inviting. It is obvious these people are passionate about what they do and grateful for your business.
