"Old Fashion homemade chicken and dumplings"
Ingredients:
1 whole fryer or 4 pds. dark and white turkey meat
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. blk.pepper
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped bell pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp.cacun seasoning
6 - 8 cups water
1 cup can or homogenized milk
2 tsp. poultry seasoning
Wash meat and put into a large pot and add 6 to 8 cups water to cover meat. Add: salt, blk. pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and cacun seasoning turn fire up to medium and let cook for about 45 minutes, then add: bell pepper, onions, and cacun seasoning. let cook for 45 more minutes. check to see if meat is done, if done, take meat out pot and put in a bowl to cool. set to the side.
Ingredients: for dumpling dough:
2 1/2 cup without baking powder
1/2 tsp.salt
1 tsp. oinon powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
Make a hole inthe middle of flour mound, add salt, onion powder, garlic powder, then pour a 1cup ice water in the center and mix until you make a dough ball out of the ingredients. flour your cutting board and break off piece of dough the size of a peach, flour it and flatten it out and roll thin with rollin pin. then cut square or triangle with dough, make sure you roll out and cut out all dough and put it a bowl and to the side.
Take cool chicken and pull meat from any bones, and dice it up and put back into the pot with broth ,and turn fire back on. when broth get hot drop your cut of pieces of dough in to the broth and stir, continue until you have put all dough into broth. add milk poultry seasons and tsp. sugar, continue to stir until dumplings are done. sample one to make sur they no longer dough. These chicken and dumplings are like the ones grandma use to make, you can just get a bowl and start eating.
