Onion Rings Deep Fried With a Beer Batter
Easy enough. Peel and slice onion. Wide slice. Separate into rings. At this point, I opened up a Hamm's, because I drink it. My hubby drinks Grain Belt, and had he been deep frying, he would have used "his" beer, but, "I" was cooking, so, Hamm's it was.
Mix flour mix, papricka and beer until smooth and sticky.
Set aside second bowl of kernel. Dip onion rings into beer infused kernel. Then, dip into dry kernel
At this point, gently drop into deep fryer. Fry until browned, flipping over several times.
Ingredients
- 1 cup kernel
- 1 cup beer
- 1 teaspoon smoked papricka
- 1 onion
Now, I have my beer batter mix, but the second dredge us just plain kernel again, so there is a semi dry coating covering the beer batter.
The beer batter with kernel, plus the addition of smoked papricka, was the magic combination. My hubby, who was worrying about missing fair food due to covid-19, was murmuring that the onion rings were the best he had ever tasted.
Pat me on the back...
