Original Smart Cookies: Disguised Veggies for Healthy Snacking

Updated on March 7, 2011

Are you looking for a way to get your family members – and yourself – to eat more vegetables? While encouraging a child – or an adult who isn’t crazy about veggies – to eat a serving of broccoli, spinach or other vegetable can certainly be challenging, it’s something that you can do.

Many parents look for ways to disguise vegetables to get your kids to eat them? What better option than hiding them in cookies? When veggies are disguised in cookies that taste like … well … cookies, it becomes much easier to get picky eaters to scarf them down.

That’s exactly what Original Smart Cookies are: great tasting cookies that have nutritious fruits and vegetables baked right in. With Original Smart Cookies, it’s easy to get even the most finicky eaters to consume more vegetables.

About Original Smart Cookies

Original Smart Cookies are all-natural cookies made with recipes that call for squash, carrots, spinach and other nutritious vegetables and fruits. They don’t, however, taste like they are made with vegetables. The finicky eaters in your household won’t know that there are veggies in the cookies if you don’t tell them. However, because they do include fruits and vegetables, Original Smart Cookies are packed with vitamins and minerals. They are also kosher.

This unique cookie product was developed by personal chef and mom Tammy Furman. In working with clients – as well as dealing with the choosy taste buds of her own kids – Furman found that even people who want to make healthy dining decisions don’t make the best choices when it comes to snacking. This knowledge inspired her to create nutritious cookies (packed with disguised veggies) that taste great and appeal to kids and grown-ups alike.

Flavor Varieties

There are four Original Smart Cookie varieties.

  • Chocoloco– Delicious double chocolate cookie that features disguised spinach, broccoli, zucchini, peas, dried apricots and apples
  • Yellow Mellow – Tasty Chocolate chip cookie that features hidden corn, cauliflower, squash and apples
  • Nuts-Oat Crazy – Yummy chocolate peanut butter cookie that is made with carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, apples and oatmeal
  • Gimme a Beat – Flavorful white chocolate cookie that includes beets, raspberries and apples
