Peapod.com Online Grocery Home Delivery Service

Updated on September 28, 2014

A couple of years ago, I received a piece of mail with a coupon from Peapod.com that said I could receive $20 off of my first order as a new customer as well as 60 days of free delivery. The thought of having my groceries delivered to my home and receiving $20 in free groceries was enticing, so I decided to check out the Peapod.com website.

While looking around on the website, everything seemed to be legit and trustworthy. I created an account with Peapod.com and started browsing the virtual grocery aisles. The different aisles displayed on this website are categorized by departments, such as produce, meat, snacks, household products and so on. The website is very well organized.

There is also a search engine on Peapod.com that allows you to search for a specific product by name. What I like about Peapod.com is that when you click on most of the food products, it gives you a description of the product as well as the ingredients and nutrition facts. It also gives you cooking, baking and microwave instructions for products that need to be heated.

Peapod.com sometimes offers special promotions and deals throughout the year, which can cut down some of the cost of the online shopping trip. You must order a minimum of $60 worth of groceries in order to receive delivery from Peapod. The cost of delivery service varies from about $7.95 to $9.95, depending on what time frame you want your groceries delivered and how much you spend on the total amount of groceries in your order. The more you spend on groceries, the cheaper your delivery charge will be. There are promotions that offer free delivery if you purchase a certain amount of the specific products that they have advertised.

When it comes time to check out, there are a couple options you can choose from when it comes to the delivery of your grocery items. There are different time slots available each day for delivery. You can choose either a two hour or four hour window of time to have your groceries delivered. There is also a longer delivery time window and if you chose this option, you will receive a $2 discount off of your grocery delivery fee.

A Peapod driver will deliver your items to your door and you will sign for them. With your permission, some drivers will bring the bags of groceries into your house for you. You are not required to tip the driver unless you want to. There is an option to add a tip for the driver on the website when you check out.

I really like the Peapod.com grocery delivery service. It is a convenient and easy way to shop. Placing an order is easy as they save all your details so that you do not have to keep typing in your address and payment information every time you shop. Also, if you choose to pay by Peapod direct check, which means they will take the payment directly from your checking account, they subtract $1 from your order each time you order. The only thing I wish for is that they had more of a selection of products. I like a lot of variety and different and unique foods, so sometimes I wish there were more food options.

The drivers that have delivered my groceries have always been friendly and for the most part, they deliver my groceries on time. There have a been a couple times when they were running a little late, but they called to notify me ahead of time. If you have text messaging on your phone, Peapod will text you to let you know that your delivery driver is on the way to your house. Then, when the driver arrives, you'll receive another text notifying you that the driver has arrived. This makes it easier for me to know when the driver is coming, so that I can be prepared. You can choose an option on Peapod's website to receive text messages about the driver's arrival status.

If you have questions about the service or you would like to know if Peapod.com delivers to your area, you can visit Peapod.com and check out their frequently asked questions, which is a link located at the top of their website. If you are looking for online grocery delivery, I would recommend Peapod.com, because for me, it has been a convenient, reliable, easy and friendly service.
