Spicy Black-Eyed Peas (Lobia, Chawalie) with Potatoes

Black-eyed peas are actually beans and not peas. Black Eyed Bean is a type of legume and also known as Lobia or Chawalie. They are high in carbs and have a moderate amount of protein and are low in fat.
It has many benefits and some of them are below:-
- It has soluble fiber which helps in absorption of water, blocks the absorption of cholesterol and stabilizes blood sugar levels.
- It is rich in vitamin K which is essential for blood clotting and rich in vitamin B which produce red blood cell and play a role in nervous system function.
- It also has Vitamin A which helps promote good vision. This vitamin also plays a key role in skin and skeletal tissue strength.
- It is full with Potassium which is needed for muscle contractions, and it also helps with heart function.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Black-Eyed Peas, Soaked in water
- 4 Big Onion, Chopped
- 7 curry leaves
- 3 Big Tomatoes, Finely Chopped
- 3 Green Chilly, Chopped
- Salt, As per taste
- Red Chilly, As per taste
- 3/4 spoon Garam Masala
- 3/4 spoon Chaat Masala
- Carry Powder (Aamchur)
- Jira Powder (Cumin)
- Kashmiri Red Chilly, As required
- Turmeric Powder
- Coriander powder, As per taste
- Cooking Oil
- 2 Potatoes, Big Diced
- Coriander Leaves, For Garnishing

- Black eyed peas should be soaked in water for whole night.
- Take oil in a pressure cooker and heat it, put curry leaves in it and then put onions. Now cook onions till it get light brown, then put finely chopped tomatoes, green chilly, salt as required, Red chilly as required, ¾ spoon Garam Masala, ¾ spoon chaat masala, coriander powder, carry powder, turmeric powder, Jira powder and Kashmiri Red chilly in it and mix it. Now close the lid and let it cook for 15 mins till it is finely cooked.
- Now put soaked black eyed peas in it and mix it. Put Diced potatoes and mix it. Now Close the lid of cooker and Let it cook till it takes 3-4 whistles. If you need gravy, put water as required with soaked black eyed peas and Potatoes in cooker and then whistle it for 3-4 times. Spicy Black eyed peas are ready to serve now. You can put Fried Beacons or meat in place of Potatoes.
