Bear N Mom Recipes - Peach Cobbler

Cobbler is a deep-dish fruit pie that is covered with either biscuits or cake Peach is the most common type of cobbler and you can either cut your own peaches when they are in season or buy a can of sliced peaches and drain the liquid.
You can eat peach cobbler right out of the oven with cream or you can let the cobbler cool and put whipped cream on it. It can also be eaten with custard puddings on it or hard sauce.
My personal favorite is with whipped cream while it is still warm but not hot.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups sliced peeled peaches
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Beat egg, 1/2 cup sugar, butter and milk. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Beat into egg mixture.
Combine peaches with remaining sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Put peach mixture into a deep baking dish approximately 12 x 8 x 2 inches. Top fruit with batter, spreading smooth.
Bake in 375° oven for 30 minutes or until crust is crisp and golden brown.
This recipe makes 6 servings.
You can use 4 cups of cherries or blueberries instead of the peaches. I like the peach cobbler best.
