Ramadan Iftar Recipes

In Ramadan foods eaten should be balanced, containing all food groups. After long hours of fasting we should consume fiber containing foods. We can take high fiber diet with adding different vegetables, cereals, dry fruits and fruits in our meals. It is necessary to take as much water or fruit juices as possible in between iftar and bedtime so that your body fluids level remains normal and specially when Ramadan is in summer's hot weather. Mango Lassi:

Ingredients:

  • Milk 1 cup
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Mango pulp 1 cup
  • Sugar to taste
  • Ice cubes as required

Method:

Add milk, yogurt, mango pulp, sugar and ice cubes in the blender and blend them well until the mixture become smooth and creamy. Serve it chilled.

Raw Mango (kairi) Sherbat:

Ingredients:

  • Raw mangos (kairi) 1 kg
  • Sugar 500 grams or to taste
  • Water 1 liter

Method:

In a pan add raw mangoes and water and cook the mixture on low flame until the mangoes become soft. Once it is cool down, peel the mangoes, remove seeds and mash them well with the remaining water to make a pulp. Then blend it. Take a pan, pour mango pulp and sugar in it and cook it until sugar is dissolved. The raw mangoes sherbat is ready. Pour it in bottles and refrigerate it.

To make a glass of raw mangoes sherbat put 4 tablespoons of sherbat ice cubes and water mix it well with a spoon, the delicious sherbat is ready to be served.

Pineapple Drink:

Ingredients:

  • Pineapple chunks 1 cup
  • Pineapple juice 1/2 cup
  • Coconut milk 1/2 cup
  • Dairy cream 1/2 cup
  • Ice cubes as required
  • Sugar to taste

Method:

Add pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, coconut milk, sugar, dairy cream and ice cubes in the blender and blend them well. Serve chilled.

Melon And Banana Milk Shake:

Ingredients:

  • Banana 2 medium size
  • Melon 1 cup (cut into small pieces)
  • Vanilla essence 1 drop
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Cream ½ cup
  • Ice cubes as required
  • Sugar to taste

Method:

In a blender add banana, melon, vanilla essence, milk, sugar and ice cubes. Blend them all well, and the shake is ready.

Almond (Badami) Sherbat:

Ingredients:

  • Almonds 1 cup (finely grounded)
  • Cream 1/2 cup
  • Milk 3 cups
  • Small cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ice cubes as required
  • Sugar to taste
  • Pistachios to garnish (crushed)

Method:

Blend almonds, cream, milk, sugar, cardamom powder and ice cubes in the blender. Pour them in the glasses and garnish them with crushed almonds and pistachio.

Lemon Drink:

Ingredients:

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  • Water 1 glass
  • Tukhamalanga 2 tablespoons (soaked in water)
  • Lal sherbat 2 tablespoons
  • Ice cubes as required

Method:

Take a glass, add lemon juice, water, tukhamalanga, lal sharbat and ice cubes in it and mix them well with the help of spoon. This drink would help you to fight the hot weather.
