Cheddars in Review

On the third day the restaurant opened in Independence, Missouri, we visited during the day, during the week and fell in love with the food and prices instantly. It is a comfortable environment. Some seating areas have more ambiance than the open areas. I even like sitting in the booths surrounding the bar with TV's in the corners. We frequent this restaurant as often as possible and try several different dishes. It is rare to find a food establishment one can visit due to reasonable pricing.

The huge stack of onions as a cheap appetizer is the best! $ 3.99. I think that is impressive for over 20 onion rings and a perfect red dipping sauce. Of course, you can have ranch too, but I prefer the red sauce.

It has ambiance and charm with the large live plants above the tropical fans. The fish tank is vast and captures many children's eyes. I have not found a spot I do not like to sit in this restaurant. It has an ideal setup

At times, I venture into the blitzed zone and drink a couple of Pain Killer tropical rum drinks that are so fruitfully decorated. Limit 2 here, if you have them, you will understand why. Just make sure you are not the driver! This is my absolute favorite drink of all times.

The first visit was an education on the amount of food and the fact that you will walk out with a box 75% of the time. The fried catfish is one of their best dishes. It is fried up just as my dad would have done it (I ate catfish growing up, nearly every week).

The Philly steak cheese is not the real thing, but I can settle for it and barely eat the whole sandwich. Sometimes, this is the whole reason I go, for this sandwich.

In the last month, Spasagna has become a favorite. It is so hearty with a combination of spegetti and lasagna noodles. It is best with the meat sauce, yes there are choices here. I would like a little more sauce on the plate, in addition to what is inside this pasta dish. The extra sauce would be nice to dip the garlic bread in.

My daughter tried the mango salsa talapia, she prefers her talapia with less fancy and more butter and lemon. As you can see in the picture, it is a beautiful presentation and enjoyable for people that love a more tropical flavoring to their fish.

The best side dish is always the broccoli cheese casserole. It is a must! Some people order two of them. The beans are not that special , and that is probably the only side I wouldn't recommend.

The service has always been fast and the prices are more reasonable than most restaurants. It is always packed, so plan to wait to get a seat. They lack on waiting areas considering how busy they constantly are.

This is truly my favorite restaurant. Find your favorite dish or explore new ones to enjoy. I can't offer any help on the desserts, I never have room left to enjoy one. They all look very inviting and delicious.

My Top 5 Dishes I love at Cheddars

  1. Philly steak cheese sandwich
  2. Spasagna - a spaghetti, lasagna that truly impresses
  3. Fried catfish
  4. The side: Broccoli Cheese Casserole is the top favorite.
  5. Appetizer - the tall stack of onion rings

Cheddars has a great menu and you simply cannot beat the prices. In fact, I just had dinner there last night and treated myself to a "Painkiller"...wow! Perfect name for this cocktail. Nice review, thank you for sharing your experience.

My wife and I have been talking about going here for the past few months. They're building one about 15 minutes away from us. I was pleasantly surprised to see this review here. Very well written, the pictures of the onions sold us. Thanks a lot and voting up!

Thank you alwaysexploring. If you find one when you go out of town, stop in. I think it is very worthwhile. I had to wait a long time for them to build one close enough to my town.

It is a a lot of pasta Relationshipc. I never finish mine in the same day. The healthy video I added to the hub may offer some dishes you may like. I added the link too so you can view the menu. It is really worth trying when you come across a Cheddars. I didn't get to try it till they built ours recently. I had to listen to everyone else tell me how good it was, during out of town trips. So glad it is near my city now. Thanks.

That is good to hear breathe2travel. The kids like this restaurant a lot. That is exactly what I did, watch them build hours this time last year and could hardly wait till it opened. It has been busy everyday, since they opened. The onion rings are a tremendous value, and one of the best. Thank you.

I think they are the best NMLady. They are building those restaurants all over the place. Hopefully you will get one closer.

Spasagna sounds like a whole lot of pasta! I'm a vegetarian, so many of the recipes don't apply to me, but it still looks good nonetheless! But come on...the name is Cheddars, so next time I am in the states, I may look it up. :)

A Cheddars opened recently in my city. My daughter has watched the progress from clearing land to erecting the building with great eagerness. I will have to take her soon after reading your review -- wow at the onion ring price! I know how much work making onion rings is... that is waaaay worth it!

      Voting up & useful.
